Os restantes 70% são perdidos na forma de calor.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style=";font-family:trebuchet ms;font-size:85%;"  &gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;span style="color: rgb(255, 153, 0);font-size:130%;" &gt;&lt;strong  style="font-family:times new roman;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="color: rgb(204, 0, 0);font-family:trebuchet ms;" &gt;Gerando energia a partir do calor&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:85%;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;font-family:trebuchet ms;" &gt;Agora cientistas das universidades do Oregon, Estados Unidos, e do Conselho de Pesquisas da Austrália, trabalhando conjuntamente, descobriram não apenas como recuperar essa energia perdida pelos motores a combustão, mas também como retirar energia das fontes geotérmicas, uma forma de geração de energia limpa e renovável disponível em áreas vulcânicas.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"&gt; &lt;/span&gt;&lt;p style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);"&gt;&lt;span style=";font-family:trebuchet ms;font-size:85%;"  &gt;Os cientistas criaram um novo tipo de material termoeléctrico - ou material termogerador, capaz de converter calor em energia eléctrica - utilizando nanofios. "[...] dispositivos termoeléctrico nanoestruturados poderão ser práticos para aplicações como a recuperação do calor perdido nos motores de automóveis, resfriadores construídos directamente dentro dos chips e refrigeradores domésticos mais compactos e silenciosos," explica Heiner Linke, um dos cientistas.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);"&gt;&lt;span style=";font-family:trebuchet ms;font-size:85%;"  &gt;Ele e seu colega Tammy Humphrey descobriram que dois objectos podem ter diferentes temperaturas e ainda assim manterem o equilíbrio mútuo em nanoescala. Esse é um fenómeno crucial para que se possa atingir o desempenho necessário para o uso prático dos materiais termoeléctricos na produção de energia eléctrica e na refrigeração.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;span style="color: rgb(255, 153, 0);font-size:100%;" &gt;&lt;strong  style="font-family:times new roman;"&gt;&lt;span style="color: rgb(204, 0, 0);font-family:trebuchet ms;font-size:130%;"  &gt;Materiais termoeléctricos&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;font-size:78%;" &gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;font-family:trebuchet ms;font-size:85%;"  &gt;Imagine-mos uma chávena de café sobre uma mesa: o café irá arrefecer gradualmente porque as moléculas na chávena transferirão automaticamente o calor do café para a mesa, até atingir o equilíbrio térmico. Esse fenómeno é explicado pelas leis da termodinâmica: o calor irá sempre fluir do mais quente para o mais frio. O problema é que a energia gasta pelos electrões para fazer essa transferência é simplesmente perdida.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: justify; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;p style="text-align: justify; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);"&gt;&lt;span style=";font-family:trebuchet ms;font-size:85%;"  &gt;Os materiais termoelétricos tentam recuperar essa energia convertendo-a em electricidade. Mas eles não funcionam muito bem se o fluxo de calor for descontrolado. A descoberta feita por Humphrey e Linke envolve justamente o controlo do movimento dos electrões, utilizando materiais que são estruturados em nano-escala.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: justify; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;p style="text-align: justify; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);"&gt;&lt;span style=";font-family:trebuchet ms;font-size:85%;"  &gt;Eles demonstraram que, se uma tensão eléctrica for aplicada a um sistema eléctricos que tiver uma diferença de temperatura, é possível controlar electrões que tenham uma energia específica. Isto significa que, se o material nano-estruturado for projectado para permitir apenas o fluxo desse tipo de electrões, atinge-se um novo tipo de equilíbrio, no qual os electrões não migram espontaneamente do quente para o frio.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: justify; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;p style="text-align: justify; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);"&gt;&lt;span style=";font-family:trebuchet ms;font-size:85%;"  &gt;Como o sistema não ficará verdadeiramente em equilíbrio, o fluxo de eléctrons pode ser revertido, permitindo que um equipamento funcione na eficiência máxima possível. Para os motores de carro, essa eficiência máxima teórica é conhecida como limite de Carnot.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: justify; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;p style="text-align: justify; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);"&gt;&lt;span style=";font-family:trebuchet ms;font-size:85%;"  &gt;Os investigadores acreditam que a tecnologia actual já possibilita que os materiais nanoestruturados atingem já 50% do limite de Carnot. Também debatemos sobre todos os materiais necessários para a construção dos nossos projectos (aerogerador e carrinho movido a energia solar), bem como os custos dos mesmos.&lt;br /&gt;Na aula seguinte, após consenso e aceso debate entre os elementos do grupo, ficou decidido que deveríamos elaborar um inquérito com vista à obtenção de dados sobre o conhecimento da população em geral, acerca do nosso tema (Energias Alternativas), o qual iniciamos na mesma aula. Seguidamente, efectuamos uma pesquisa aprofundada (internet e revistas informativas) sobre os materiais necessários à realização do aerogerador e do carrinho movido a energia solar, tendo em vista a relação qualidade/preço, dado que não dispomos de um grande orçamento e que o reembolso da escola é, sem dúvida, reduzido tendo em conta o projecto que pretendemos realizar.&lt;br /&gt;Na última aula, visitámos alguns dos grandes empreendimentos comerciais sobre os quais pesquisámos anteriormente (Aki e Maxmat). Dentro destas lojas fomos acompanhados por técnicos experientes que nos ajudaram a encontrar os melhores materiais, tendo em conta as condições impostas anteriormente. Depois desta afincada procura decidimos quais os materiais que deveríamos adquirir.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Em suma:&lt;br /&gt;Até à data, já construímos a maior parte do aerogerador, faltando apenas a finalização do mesmo, ou seja, arranjar uma ventoinha suficientemente leve para ser movida pela força do vento de modo a que consigamos produzir energia para alimentar um LED.&lt;br /&gt;Encontramo-nos dentro do prazo estipulado, o que significa que a planificação está a ser cumprida e temos a perspectiva de nos adiantar em relação à mesma.&lt;br /&gt;Temos conseguido superar todas as dificuldades e em grande parte devido ao bom funcionamento do grupo, pois temos sido unânimes em todas as decisões tomadas.&lt;br /&gt;Fizemos uma boa escolha de todos os materiais necessários para a construção da nossa maquete, não sendo, assim, preciso fazer alguma reformulação.&lt;br /&gt;Por fim, e após uma reflexão bastante exaustiva, o grupo acordou em avaliar-se em 20.
